High-voltage indoor AC vacuum circuit breakers from EDE are designed for use in enclosed three-phase AC distribution systems with voltages of 12 kV, 24 kV, and a frequency of 50 Hz. They can serve as protection and control units for equipment in transformer substations for industrial and mining enterprises. Thanks to their modular design and independent spring-operated mechanism framework, EDE circuit breakers can operate with standard distribution systems. Our automatic circuit breakers can be installed either in a fixed position or on a withdrawable cart.

Special Operating Conditions

Special operating conditions must be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the user. It is necessary to consult the manufacturer for each specific condition.

  • For altitudes above 1000 m: It is necessary to account for the reduction in air dielectric strength or order a plateau-type circuit breaker that meets the required insulation standards.
  • For elevated ambient temperatures: The current-carrying capacity should be reduced, and additional ventilation should be provided to dissipate heat.
  • Other Considerations: Should be discussed with the manufacturer.

Compared to conventional circuit breakers, its mechanical endurance is increased from 10,000 to 35,000 operations, representing a significant improvement. Tests for capacitive current breaking have shown an extremely low probability of re-ignition of the arc. These circuit breakers offer extended electrical endurance.

High-Efficiency Buffer

A high-efficiency buffer significantly reduces the bounce amplitude of the moving contact in the vacuum circuit breaker during operation, preventing mechanical wear caused by partial overload of the vacuum interrupter. In capacitor bank switching tests, no breakdown or re-ignition was detected due to reduced bounce amplitude.

Thanks to interlock protection against improper operation, these circuit breakers, when installed in distribution cabinets, can implement the “five protections” interlock functions, avoiding malfunctions and maximizing operator safety. The circuit breaker trolley can be moved from the test position to the service position only when both the circuit breaker and the grounding switch are in the OFF position. The circuit breaker can only be switched ON in the service/test position. When the circuit breaker is ON, its trolley cannot be moved; this can be done only when the circuit breaker is in the OFF position. The circuit breaker cannot be moved from the service position to the test position while it is ON. The circuit breaker cannot be switched ON while it is in an intermediate position.
If the closing signal is not deactivated in time when the circuit breaker is ON, the internal anti-trip control circuit will disconnect the closing circuit to prevent multiple repeated closings (optional).
If electrical interlocking is selected, the circuit breaker cannot switch ON if the secondary circuit cannot supply power or if the supplied power is insufficient for the proper operation of the interlock solenoid (optional).
